Amenities
The farmhouse is a work- in- progress yet it is a very pleasant and attractive place to cook when the weather is soggy, to play cards, games, get on the WI FI, or hang out or read. Various board games and cards are available. If the weather is a bit toasty, hang out in the air conditioning for a while. Tea or coffee are always available at the beverage station inside. If you need a place to spread out some maps to chart the next leg of your journey there are two good sized tables. There are two bathrooms available, one with a shower and one with an old fashioned claw tub. If you really want to relax, a Finnish sauna will help you. Please keep in mind that the sauna is a public space for everyone to use. An old-fashioned laundry set up is available, though you will need to hang your items to dry on the clothesline. Outside, you can find corn hole, horseshoes, and disc golf. We also have a farm market stand with fresh produce from our gardens, homemade soap, honey, maple syrup and baked goods available for purchase. We do ask that you remember your scout days and leave the place as good as when you arrived. We do not have a maintenance team or housekeepers. Pick up after your dogs too. They probably did not go through the scouts program. Please remember to bring along sleeping bags, pillows, blankets, flashlights, and towels. Well-behaved dogs are welcome but must be leashed at all times. We have electric fences, Highland cattle and free-range farm fowl that do not like to be chased. If your dog manages to escape you and causes any harm or destruction, you may be asked to leave, without a refund. The gardens and greenhouse are available for you to explore at your leisure. Please do not pick anything unless you ask. Please do not approach any of our livestock or farm fowl, we do have live electric fencing. If you are interested in a pasture walk amongst the cows, please set up a guided tour with a staff member ahead of time. There are country roads all around for taking walks or runs. The White River is within walking distance. If you have a license and gear, you are welcome to try your skills at trout fishing. Several fishing lakes are minutes away. If you need a license let us know in advance and we will shuttle you over to one of several nearby locations, where you can acquire one. A one-day license is $8 for a residence and $10 for non-resident. There is an upcharge for fishing for trout or salmon. Not sure how much. Several kayaks are available for responsible use. Buoyancy support is the law here in Wisconsin so we have life jackets available as well. There is absolutely NO SMOKING allowed on the property. If you must smoke, there will be an area near the road with a receptacle for your cigarette butts.
